iPhone app creation and testing
Open Independence is a one-person studio that builds iPhone-first apps. Our own apps collect no data. Aivi, Just Tell Me and Cue Interpreter are live on the App Store. If you have a focused idea for an iPhone app, or an app you want tested, you can hire the studio directly.
Accessibility audit in one week, tested with VoiceOver
I'm Ashley Bernard. I'm blind, I use VoiceOver every day, and I build iPhone apps that are live on the App Store. I'll test your website or app the way a blind person uses it and send you a clear list of what to fix.
Price: $200 flat.
What you get, in 7 days:
- Hands-on testing with a real screen reader (VoiceOver on iPhone, plus TalkBack when your app is on Android).
- Checks against WCAG, covering the pages or screens you pick (up to 5 pages or screens).
- A plain-language report: each problem, where it is, why it blocks a screen reader user, and how to fix it. Written so a developer can act on it.
- A 30-minute call or written follow-up to answer questions.
What I need from you: the site or app link, the pages that matter most, and a test login if there is one.
Not included: fixing the code, re-testing after changes, legal advice. Re-testing can be added as a follow-up.

Build a focused iPhone app for your idea
Have an idea for a small iPhone tool? We turn it into an app with a clear purpose: agree on the main task, keep the first version focused, and test the agreed screens on an iPhone. Message first so we can confirm features, screen count, delivery checklist and any running costs. Every package includes project source, setup notes and functional checks of the agreed workflows. We use AI-assisted development tools, then review and test the result.

Submission-ready
$1,200 · 30 days · 2 revisions
- One simple iPhone utility with up to 6 screens and 3 agreed workflows.
- Includes source, setup notes, functional checks, one TestFlight upload, App Store text and screenshots prepared for your review, and one submission through your Apple Developer account.
- You supply your app icon, branding, approved privacy policy and any required legal statements.
- No custom backend or paid-service integration.
These packages suit simple utility apps. Complex accounts, payments, subscriptions, custom backends, live AI features, medical advice and Android versions are outside the listed scope. Apple Developer fees, hosting, paid APIs and ongoing maintenance are not included. Apple decides App Store approval and review time, so neither can be guaranteed or counted in the delivery time.
What to bring
- The app's main task and who will use it.
- The required screens and features in priority order.
- Any designs, icon, copy and assets you have permission to use.
- Whether it must work offline or needs outside services.
- An active Apple Developer membership if you want TestFlight or App Store submission (we agree on access without exchanging passwords).
Test your iPhone app workflows and get a usability report
We test the agreed tasks in your iPhone app and report where they fail or become confusing: completing workflows, moving between screens, and whether an action gives the expected result. You get a plain-language report with steps to reproduce each issue, its effect on the user and suggested improvements. Testing uses one iPhone, and the report records the iOS version.
Hire us on Upwork for usability testing reports
One core flow

- Test 1 agreed flow across up to 5 screens and deliver a written issue report.
Three core flows
$150 · 7 days · 1 revision
- Test up to 3 agreed flows across up to 10 screens.
- Written report with priority levels and suggested improvements.
Test and retest
$250 · 14 days · 1 revision
- Test up to 5 agreed flows across up to 15 screens.
- Written report with priority levels and suggested improvements, then one retest of the same flows after fixes supplied within the delivery period.
This is functional and usability testing of agreed workflows, not a visual design review, security audit, performance test or compliance certification. Packages include findings and retest results, not code changes. Please use test data and test accounts only, and send a working TestFlight invitation or App Store link plus the flows you want checked.
Common questions
Do I need my own Apple Developer account?
Yes, for TestFlight or App Store submission. You own the account and pay Apple directly. Never email passwords; we will agree on an appropriate invitation for access.
Will you keep my idea private?
We do not collect data in our own apps, and we will agree on how your materials are handled before work begins.
Will I get the source code?
Yes, the project source and setup notes are included. Third-party components keep their own license terms.
How do revisions work?
A revision changes the agreed work. New screens, integrations or features need a new scope. Bug fixes needed to meet the agreed requirements are not counted as new features.
Do you use AI tools?
Yes. We use AI-assisted development tools as part of the workflow, and we review and test the result.
