Visual Narrator
Most video has no audio description, so blind and low-vision viewers miss the action, the settings, and the faces that carry the story.
Why this matters
Audio description is the difference between hearing a film and watching it. Waiting for studios to add it means most content never gets described at all.
- Current idea
- Visual Narrator watches a video alongside you and narrates what is happening — action, places, people, and on-screen text — so the description arrives in time with the scene rather than after it.
- Accessibility notes
- Audio-first by design: playback, narration verbosity, and voice are all controllable by keyboard and screen reader. Narration can be paused without stopping the video.
- What was learned
- Good description is about timing and restraint — saying the one thing that matters in the gap between lines beats describing everything.
