Accessibility information about a place is scattered, out of date, or simply missing, so people find out when they arrive.
Why this matters
Knowing what to expect before you go removes one of the most exhausting parts of going out: the uncertainty. Shared, current information gives people back the choice to visit.
- Current idea
- Access Atlas is an accessible map for discovering and sharing accessibility information about real places. It combines AI-generated insights with crowdsourced contributions so people can understand a location's mobility, sensory, restroom, and parking accessibility before they go, and add what they learn back to the shared record.
- Accessibility notes
- Screen-reader-friendly map interactions, high-contrast markers, and simple structured forms for contributions.
- What was learned
- Accessibility data is only useful if the people who update it can actually use the tool.
